A ubiquitous figure, Neymar, continues to dominate and monopolize headlines all over. The media can’t seem to get enough of the man and who can blame them. His boyish charms and immaculate footballing skills make him one of the most marketable athletes in the world. In 2013, Barcelona acquired Neymar from Santos for a fee reported to be around $124 million. Most recently, the country’s heartthrob was stretchered off the pitch in the Quarter final World Cup match against Columbia.

The companies Nike, Castrol, Panasonic, L’Oreal, Unilever, Santander and Volkswagen have all invested ludicrous amount of money in Neymar. He has also lent his services to the game Pro Evolution Soccer; the man appeared on the covers of the 2012 and 2013 editions.

During the first week of the World Cup, owing to Neymar’s sublime performances, his jersey sales went through the roof. The sales quickly catapulted the star’s jersey to the top-seller list. If the trajectory of the footballer’s current success is anything to by, we could be looking at the next Ronaldo.
