EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY: FG gives marching orders to Discos on metres

ENUGU—The Federal Government has given marching orders to
Electricity Distribution Companies, DISCOs, in the country to supply pre-
paid metres to electric consumers without further delay.
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN,
made this known at the end of his third monthly meeting with operators
in the power sector at the Ugwuaji Transmission Station, Enugu,
yesterday.
Fashola said that the meeting discussed the issue of availability of gas,
volatility of the foreign exchange market, financial capability of Discos as
well as difficulties of prising gas in dollars instead of the local currency
among others, adding that Discos must live up to their responsibilities of
meeting the demands of their customers to supply them with pre-paid
meters to avoid estimated billings.
Earlier before the meeting, the Minister had asked the Discos to always
engage their customers by informing them promptly about any power
outage and reasons for such problems.
According to Fashola, it was not the business of the government to
explain to Nigerians why certain Discos were not meeting up with their
responsibilities, having sold the various companies to them.
Fashola said government was playing the same role which the Nigerian
Communications Commission, NCC, was playing as regulator for the
telecommunications companies adding that each of them must step out
to play their roles effectively.
“If you are not getting power from the transmission company, you must
tell your customers so. The issue of review of tariff was arrived at after
consultations. You (discos) did the consultations. Why don’t you step
out and explain the issue to your customers. All of us must explain to
our different customers where we operate,” he said.
The communique issued after the meeting read: “The Honourable
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN,
chaired the third monthly meeting of operators in the electricity industry
in furtherance of identifying, discussing and finding practical solutions to
issues facing the Nigerian electricity supply industry.

DOLLAR SCARCITY:manufacturers turn to local raw materials

The scarcity of foreign exchange has forced some manufacturers to look inwards for raw materials, investigation has shown.

Manufacturers who spoke to our correspondent said they had embarked on urgent search for raw materials and substitutes that could be sourced locally because access to forex through the official route was near impossible while getting it through the black market was very expensive.

The fall in global oil prices has weakened the naira against the dollar while the Central Bank of Nigeria maintains an official exchange rate of N197 to a dollar.

The CBN later announced the closure of its official forex window, the Retail Dutch Auction System and Wholesale Dutch Auction System and followed the action by banning importers of 41 items from accessing forex at the official market, an action, which further caused the naira to plummet.

The bank had also in August 2015 barred banks from accepting cash deposits into domiciliary accounts as a measure aimed at preventing fraud and round tripping.

But in January 2016, the apex bank lifted the ban on lodgements into domiciliary accounts while announcing that it had stopped the sale of forex to over 2000 bureau de change operators nationwide.

The action by the CBN fuelled speculation, which caused one dollar to exchange for as high as N391 at the parallel market as of Thursday, February 18.

The dollar had further increased to N400 before the naira firmed up against it on Monday and Tuesday, February 21 and 22 to exchange for N371 and N310 respectively.

A master brewer of wines, Mr. Linus Kotey, said that his company had started doing everything to find local substitutes instead of waiting for foreign exchange.

According to Kotey, who is a biochemist and the Chief Executive Officer, PEL Extracts Limited, although the raw materials for wine are locally sourced, some of the packaging materials are imported.

“We are working hard to see if we can find locally sourced packaging materials or substitutes for the current packaging that we have,” he explained.

Also, Diageo, the parent company of Guinness, is targeting 70 per cent local raw materials by 2017, the Corporate Communications Manager, Guinness, Olayinka Edmond, told our correspondent.

According to her, the raw materials for one of the firm’s brands, Orijin Bitters, are 100 per cent locally sourced.

Similarly, an agro investor and exporter, Mr. Abiodun Oladapo, told our correspondent that the firm had in the past one month been substituting soya beans for its imported feed mill.

In the same vein, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chemstar Paints Industries, Mr. Emmanuel Awode, said the firm was scouting around for local substitutes for its paint materials.

He said, “The dollar scarcity is particularly hard on the paint industry because over 70 per cent of our raw materials are imported, but we are looking around for local substitutes.”

The Chairman, BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, in a statement made available to our correspondent, said that in the last three years, the firm had gradually divested from business areas that were largely dependent on foreign exchange in favour of businesses whose raw materials could be sourced at least 90 per cent locally

He said, “We are fully concentrating on our core business including agriculture, mining and manufacturing that are less forex-dependent.”

The President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Dr. Frank Jacobs, had earlier called on members of the association to focus on local sourcing of raw materials in view of the forex control and its challenges for the sector.

Pregnant Woman Rejected By Cameronian Hospital,Operated By Her Niece In Open Air

Pregnant Woman Denied Hospital, Operated By Her Niece In Open Air (vid)

Disclaimer: The video and the pics below may be very graphic and crude to some

Mrs Koumate Monique was a cameroonian woman pregnant of twins. On the day of delivery she went to the hospital, but was denied medical attention, since she had no money.

She died at the gates of one of the main public hospitals of the city Douala (Hopital la Quintinie). However the babies in her womb were still alive. The niece of the deceased demanded that at least the lives of the babies be saved by immediate medical intervention, and she would pay for the intervention later on, but all to no avail.

This poor niece, alone with the deceased aunt and the babies moving in the womb, felt she was obliged to operate her aunt herself. She bought a blade in a shop close by, and in the midst of an amazed crowd cut the womb of the dead woman, in an attempt to save the babies.

One of the twins came out dead. The other was still breathing but some minutes later on died.
t the gates of cameroonian public hospitals, because they did not have the money to be taken care of.

Suffer From Snoring? This New Doctor Trusted Solution Stops Snoring and Lets You Sleep

If you constantly feel exhausted, experience headaches for no obvious reason or have high blood pressure, it could be the result of snoring.

More than a simple annoyance, snoring is also the most common symptom of a potentially serious health problem—obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Over 18 million Americans snore, and it’s related to OSA. People who suffer from OSA repeatedly and unknowingly stop breathing during the night due to a complete or partial obstruction of their airway.  It occurs when the jaw, throat, and tongue muscles relax, blocking the airway used to breathe.  The resulting lack of oxygen can last for a minute or longer, and occur hundreds of times each night.

OSA has been linked to:

  • Acid reflux
  • Frequent nighttime urination
  • Memory loss
  • Stroke
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attack
People over 35 are at higher risk.
OSA can be expensive to diagnosis and treat — up to $5,000 — and those treatments can sometimes be quite painful. Plus, they're not always covered by insurance.
However, a recent study published by Eastern Virginia Medical School's Division of Sleep Medicine concluded that wearing a simple chinstrap while sleeping can be an effective treatment for OSA.
The chin strap, which is now available from a company called MySnoringSolution, works by supporting the lower jaw and tongue, preventing obstruction of the airway.  It’s made from a high-tech, lightweight, and super-comfortable material.  Thousands of people have used the MySnoringSolution chinstrap and reported better sleeping, and better health overall because of it.

An effective "DoctorTrusted" snoring solution for just $119

He reviewed the chinstrap, the product's medical information and more, and found that it met the site's strict requirements and ethical code of conduct. Indeed, DoctorTrusted deemed MySnoringSolution's website "to be trustworthy and safe for purchases as of the time of the review."

Incredible Military Issued Flashlight Now Available to Public

Incredible Military Issued Flashlight Now Available to Public

Do you suffer from "Dim Flashlight" disorder?

You know, that exasperating feeling when you turn on an old flashlight, only to discover it's foggy bulb can barely light the way to the bathroom, let alone down a dark hallway or country road in an emergency.
The truth is, most people underestimate the importance of owning a great flashlight for their home, car or boat.
Ask any fireman, police officer, military man, survivalist or hunter and they'll tell you how critical it is for them to have a flashlight at their disposal at all times. And for them, not just any flashlight will do. Those clunky plastic halogen flashlights that require C or D batteries are practically worthless -- they're just too heavy, too dim, and too easily broken.
Thankfully, recent advancements in lighting technology have taken flashlights to the next level. Compact LEDs have led to smaller flashlights that put out more light while using a fraction of the energy their old-fashioned counterparts use. But before you run out to Home Depot to buy any old LED flashlight, you need to know about a new tactical flashlight called the G700, which uses recently released military technology now available to the public.
Made out of nearly indestructible Machined Aircraft Aluminim, the G700 runs on 3 AAA batteries and is able to light the way to safety with 700 blinding lumens of light. It also houses a super cool ZOOM feature (demonstrated in the photo above), an "SOS mode" to signal for help, as well as a "strobe mode" that produces a pulsating frequency to disorient a threat within milliseconds!
One well known Navy Seal says it's the #1 Tool everyone should own as it could be a lifesaver during a natural disaster --literally!
Massive orders are coming in from Police Departments, Fire Departments, and Armed Forces, and the National Gun Owners Association just announced a whopping 75% discount on G700's for new customers (including the general public) while supplies last.
Don't miss out on this rare opportunity!

Prevent the Oversharing Craze with a Spy WhatsApp Software

Kids and adults alike have fared poorly from oversharing on the Internet. When your personal information is available to all on a public platform.

Kids don’t have a filter. And that can be dangerous, especially when they’re talking to strangers on the Internet. Because they could give too much away — personal information like mobile number, or pictures of themselves, or a house address.
In this case, it becomes imperative for you as the parent to very closely monitor their internet communication.
Today, I’m going to be talking to you about their favorite communication platform, WhatsApp. And let me tell you this: if you want to decide to spy WhatsApp chats, your life might just become a lot easier.

Why is Oversharing Dangerous

Kids and adults alike have fared poorly from over-sharing on the Internet. When your personal information is available to all on a public platform, this puts you at a risk of:-
  • Identity theft.
  • Financial theft.
  • Being cyberstalked.
  • Being stalked in real life.
  • Being scammed.
Adults might have a better instinct for internet safety, but kids don’t. But parents can help kids be cautious by using XNSPY. Let me explain.

XNSPY is a Monitoring Tool

Prevent the Oversharing Craze with a Spy WhatsApp SoftwareWhat XNSPY essentially does is become a WhatsApp monitor. It lets you remotely observe on a separate control panel how your child uses WhatsApp. This means you can:-
  • See who he talks to.
  • Read through all the chats.
  • See what pictures/videos/audios files he is sharing with others.
  • Go through the contact list.
In this way, you can check if your child is talking to friend or a stranger on their phone. You can go through the content of their chats to see if they’re not giving too much away.
Prevent the Oversharing Craze with a Spy WhatsApp SoftwareKids can’t tell if they’re talking to a predator who might use their photo or credit card information for the absolute wrong reasons. But you can help them surf safely.

Parenting Made Easier

Ever since these smartphones have become so commonplace, parenting has been taken to a whole new level. Because apart from bringing them up and providing for them in the real world, you’ve got to protect them in the digital world as well.
The advantage of using XNSPY is that it is a lot more than just your spy WhatsApp tool. It monitors every aspect of their smartphone usage. And that’s what you need to make digital parenting easier for yourself.
